What do bees need? A quick trawl of the Internet says that they need shelter, food sources, explorers of new food sources, communication, peace and quiet....more parallels there. They each have a role in the community too. What we would like to do is find out what the assets of our own community, which is so new even it's name is confusing. Is it Oakdale or Higher Lydney Park? Is it 200 houses or 1200? Is it isolated or well connected to the major road and rail networks? Is it going to have a supermarket, a different supermarket or no supermarket? Will we ever get a post box?
Confusing, isn't it? While we have to focus on the bare necessities of life, it's hard to think outside the boundaries of our own family, but try and imagine the difference it would make to everyone if they felt safe and secure, knew where to go to ask for help in a crisis and could name half a dozen neighbours in their street. It doesn't take long to fill out our survey and every entry counts when it comes to community building here. Thanks to those who've already done it. Please have a go if you live on Oakdale and haven't yet. We understand that people are busy and have just moved in, work and have little leisure time, but we are in the same boat and have still kept Oakdale Links going for the last six months, representing people here, challenging decisions that were not in our best interests and getting people to care about what's happening here. Five minutes to do a survey? You can do it
