This is what I suggest, as a protest against the lack of street lighting on the only pedestrian/ cycle route onto and off the Oakdale Development:
Gather at 4 pm at Cambourne Place with candle lanterns and torches. Route to go up to Lydney via the Boating Lake and the footpath along the riverside, then along the pavements, without stopping traffic, to the Town Cross. As it is four days before Christmas, we could take carol sheets with us and gather at the Cross or outside the Town Hall, then deliver a petition to anyone from Lydney Town Council who would like to take it from us - or hand it in at the offices. Going back to Oakdale, we could go down Church Road and down the bypass to the Boating Lake again, so that we have completed the circle that is most often used for residents here to get around.
I have set up an Oakdale Links Facebook page but have not yet made it public. If you think I should go ahead and do this, let me know. Twitter: @OakdaleLinks, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If the lighting is up and running by then, we do not need to protest on this issue, but could have our own carols instead on the Green by candlelight. I would like any sympathetic lawyers living in Lydney or on the development to get in touch to check out the legal requirements please.
