It was dusk and there were cyclists without lights just exiting the roundabout. I could see that the approaching car from the Gloucester direction was coming very fast and not about to slow down for the roundabout, so I positioned my car so that he would see my lights as I overtook the cyclists. The problem was he decided to overtake me as I was overtaking them, just on the exit towards Church Road and there was a car coming the other way at the same time. It was very nearly a side on collision between my car and his. (I am presuming it was a male driver, but this may be unfair.)
Anyway, drivers, please slow down on the approach to Oakdale roundabout, even if you don't like the fact that 107 families are now living here. Lorry drivers, it is on the road, even if it is not on your Satnav, so please don't just drive through the middle of it. Cyclists, please, please, go out with lights on your bike even if the sun hasn't quite set yet. So, time for some music to relax to as I do the filing for Oakdale Links, which is not my first choice of occupation usually, but somehow I'm in the right mood to do it today. It's Monday. The enthusiasm will wear off by tomorrow.
This is for my friend Edna, who is just learning how to negotiate the information superhighway.
